Frequently Asked Questions

User Guide

This section provides detailed answers to the most common questions about SEO Forge. If you cannot find your answer here, check the Troubleshooting Guide section below or contact support at [email protected].

Setup & Configuration

Q: How long does it take to set up SEO Forge?

Less than five minutes for basic setup. After activating the plugin, it immediately generates meta tags, creates your XML sitemap, and outputs schema markup with sensible defaults. Visit SEO Forge > Settings to review the recommended options (auto-analyze on save, schema enabled, internal links enabled) and click Save Changes. That is all you need for a fully functional SEO setup.

Q: Can I import data from Yoast, Rank Math, or All in One SEO?

Yes. Go to SEO Forge > Migration and select the plugin you are migrating from. SEO Forge imports existing meta titles, descriptions, focus keywords, custom canonical URL overrides, supported noindex/nofollow flags, supported Open Graph/Twitter overrides, Yoast/Rank Math global templates, and tested/core redirect data. Premium-only modules such as advanced schema packs, video/news/local add-ons, WooCommerce SEO add-on settings, rank tracking, and ecosystem-specific workflows should be reviewed manually after import. The import process does not delete data from your previous plugin, so you can verify everything transferred correctly before deactivating the old plugin.

Q: Do I need to edit my theme files or add any code?

No. SEO Forge works entirely from the WordPress dashboard. It hooks into WordPress automatically to output meta tags, schema markup, and sitemap files. There is no need to edit template files, add code snippets, or modify your theme in any way.

Q: Does SEO Forge work with multisite installations?

Yes. SEO Forge can be activated on individual sites within a multisite network or network-activated across all sites. Each site maintains its own settings, scores, and sitemap. Network admins can set default configuration values that apply to new sites.

SEO Scoring

Q: What is a good SEO score?

A score of 80 or above (green) means your content is well optimized and ready to publish. Scores between 50 and 79 (yellow) indicate specific issues that should be addressed. Scores below 50 (red) mean significant problems that will likely prevent the page from ranking well. You do not need a perfect 100 on every page — focus on getting red and low-yellow pages into the green range first.

Q: Why does my score change when I change the focus keyword?

The entire SEO analysis is based on how well your content uses the focus keyword. When you change the keyword, every check recalculates — keyword placement in the title, URL, description, content density, first paragraph usage, and heading structure are all re-evaluated against the new keyword. This is normal and expected behavior.

Q: Can I have multiple focus keywords per page?

The free version supports one focus keyword per page. In SEO Forge PRO, you can add secondary keywords that are also tracked in the analysis. However, best practice is to have one primary keyword per page and let secondary keywords appear naturally in the content.

Q: Does a high SEO score guarantee good Google rankings?

No. The SEO score measures on-page optimization — how well your content follows SEO best practices. Rankings depend on many additional factors outside any plugin’s control, including domain authority, backlinks, content quality, search competition, and Google’s algorithms. A high score gives you the best possible on-page foundation, but it is one piece of a larger puzzle.

Schema Markup

Q: What is schema markup and why does it matter?

Schema markup is invisible structured data added to your pages in JSON-LD format. It tells Google exactly what your content is about — whether it is an article, product, FAQ, recipe, or business listing. When Google reads this data, it may display rich results (star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, price ranges, breadcrumbs) in search results, which can significantly increase your click-through rate.

Q: Will enabling schema slow down my site?

No. Schema markup is a small block of JSON-LD text added to your page’s HTML head. It typically adds less than 1 KB to the page size, which is negligible compared to images or scripts. It does not load any JavaScript or CSS on the front end.

Q: How do I test if my schema markup is working?

Use Google’s Rich Results Test at search.google.com/test/rich-results. Enter your page URL and Google will show you exactly what structured data it can read, any errors or warnings, and which rich result types your page is eligible for. You can also view your page source (right-click > View Page Source) and search for application/ld+json to see the raw schema output.

Sitemap

Q: Where is my sitemap?

Your sitemap index is automatically available at yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml. It contains links to individual sitemaps for posts, pages, and other content types. If you see a 404 error, go to Settings > Permalinks in WordPress and click Save Changes to refresh the URL rewrite rules.

Q: Does SEO Forge automatically notify Google when I publish new content?

Yes. When you publish or update a post, SEO Forge pings Google and Bing to let them know your sitemap has changed. This does not guarantee immediate indexing, but it tells search engines that new content is available for crawling.

Q: Can I exclude specific posts or pages from the sitemap?

Yes. When editing any post or page, find the SEO Forge box and check the Noindex option. This removes the page from the sitemap and adds a noindex meta tag so search engines know not to index it. You can also exclude entire post types or archives from the sitemap in SEO Forge > Settings.

Meta Tags

Q: What is the difference between the post title and the SEO title?

The post title is the headline visitors see on your website. The SEO title is the title that appears in Google search results. They can be different. For example, your post title might be “Our Spring Collection” while your SEO title could be “Spring 2026 Collection — Designer Clothing | Your Store Name.” SEO Forge lets you customize the SEO title independently in the SEO box on every post.

Q: What happens if I leave the SEO title or description blank?

SEO Forge uses templates to generate them automatically. By default, the SEO title template is {post_title} | {site_name} and the description is pulled from the first 160 characters of your content. You can customize these templates in SEO Forge > Settings > Templates.

Q: How do I prevent Google from rewriting my meta description?

Google sometimes ignores your meta description and generates its own from the page content. This is Google’s behavior and cannot be prevented by any plugin. However, well-written descriptions that accurately summarize the page content and include the search query terms are more likely to be used. Keep descriptions between 120 and 160 characters and make them specific to the page content.

AI Features

Q: Do I need an OpenAI or ChatGPT account for AI features?

No. All AI features in SEO Forge PRO are powered by the Forge API. Your first-ever paid Forge purchase on an account grants a one-time welcome pack; buy credit packs when you need more (they never expire) — see avakode.com/pricing for current pack sizes. There are no separate API keys, external accounts, or additional subscriptions required.

Q: What AI features are available?

SEO Forge PRO includes: AI title and description generation, one-click AI issue fixing, AI Content Optimizer (rewrite content for better SEO), AI Content Brief (research-based outlines), and AI Site Audit (site-wide analysis with prioritized recommendations). Each AI action uses credits from your account’s credit pool (welcome pack + any packs you’ve bought — no monthly reset). Current base prices: meta generation 1 credit, SEO analysis/fixes/suggestions 2 credits, auto-insert links 3 credits, content briefs 5 credits, and whole-site audit summaries 10 credits. The plugin shows you the exact cost before every action.

Q: Can AI features write entire blog posts for me?

The AI Content Brief feature generates detailed research-based outlines including suggested headings, key points to cover, word count targets, and related keywords. The AI Content Optimizer can rewrite and improve existing content. However, SEO Forge is designed to enhance human-written content, not replace it. The best results come from combining your expertise with AI optimization.

Google Search Console

Q: How do I connect Google Search Console?

Go to SEO Forge > Settings > Search Console and click Connect. You will be redirected to Google to authorize SEO Forge to read your Search Console data. Once connected, SEO Forge displays impressions, clicks, average position, and CTR data directly in your WordPress dashboard. This is a PRO feature.

Q: What data does SEO Forge read from Search Console?

SEO Forge reads performance data only — search queries, impressions, clicks, average position, and click-through rates. It does not make any changes to your Search Console account or settings. The data is used to power features like Content Decay Detection and SEO A/B Testing.

Compatibility

Q: Can I run SEO Forge alongside another SEO plugin?

This is strongly discouraged. Running two SEO plugins simultaneously causes duplicate meta tags, conflicting sitemaps, conflicting schema markup, and unpredictable behavior. SEO Forge suppresses common duplicate meta/social/robots output during migration, but it does not forcibly suppress every source plugin sitemap endpoint. If you are switching from another plugin, use the import feature to migrate your data, verify key pages, then deactivate the old plugin or disable its sitemap module.

Q: Does SEO Forge work with page builders?

Yes. SEO Forge works with Elementor, Beaver Builder, Divi, WPBakery, Oxygen, Bricks, and other popular page builders. The SEO box appears in the WordPress editor sidebar regardless of which builder you use. SEO Forge analyzes the final rendered content, so it accurately scores content built with any builder.

Q: Is SEO Forge compatible with caching plugins?

Yes. SEO Forge is fully compatible with WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, LiteSpeed Cache, WP Rocket, and other caching plugins. SEO analysis is performed when you save a post (not when visitors load the page), so caching does not interfere with scoring. If you notice stale data on the front end after making SEO changes, clear your cache.

Performance

Q: Does SEO Forge add JavaScript or CSS to my front-end pages?

No. SEO Forge outputs only lightweight HTML in the page head — meta tags and JSON-LD schema markup. There are no JavaScript files, CSS stylesheets, or font files loaded on visitor-facing pages. All plugin scripts and styles are loaded only in the WordPress admin dashboard.

Q: How does SEO Forge affect page load times?

The front-end impact is negligible. SEO Forge adds meta tags and schema markup that together are typically under 2 KB of HTML. Analysis and scoring happen when you save a post, not when visitors load the page. Database queries on the front end are minimal and cached.

License & Credits

Q: What is included in the free version?

The free version includes: SEO scoring with 13 checks, focus keyword analysis, SEO title and description fields with SERP preview, templates for titles and descriptions, XML sitemap, robots.txt management, schema markup (Article and Breadcrumbs), Open Graph tags for social sharing, noindex controls, internal link suggestions, and the SEO dashboard.

Q: Can I use SEO Forge on multiple sites?

The free version can be installed on unlimited sites. PRO license terms depend on your plan — single-site, 5-site, and unlimited-site plans are available at seoforge.dev/pricing.

Q: What happens to my data if I deactivate SEO Forge?

Your meta titles, descriptions, focus keywords, scores, and redirect rules remain in the WordPress database. If you reactivate SEO Forge later, all your data will still be there. If you want to permanently remove all SEO Forge data, use the Delete All Data option in SEO Forge > Settings > Import/Export before deactivating.
